The agreement between you and Strayfolk when you use the app and this website.
Draft — not yet in force. These terms are published for review ahead of launch. Bracketed items are placeholders. They will be finalised, dated and versioned before the app accepts sign-ups from the public.

1. The service
Strayfolk is a group-trip companion: a shared timeline of bookings, a ledger of who paid for what, weather and snow forecasts, maps and directions, and optional activity suggestions. It is provided by [Company details — legal name, registered address, company number] ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app or website you agree to these terms and to the privacy notice.
Strayfolk is not a travel agent, booking engine, payment service or bank. Nothing is booked, paid or transferred through it.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 and give a real email address you control. Sign-in is by magic link, Sign in with Apple or Google; keep those accounts secure.
- Your forwarding address is private to you. Anyone who has it can add items to your trips, so treat it like a password and rotate it if it leaks.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account and for the people you invite to your trips. Organisers can change roles and remove members; choose editors you trust.
3. Your content
- Bookings, emails, attachments, places, notes and money records you add are yours. You give us a licence to store, process and display them to you and to the members of the trips they belong to, only so the service can work.
- Only forward or upload material you are entitled to share. Booking confirmations are usually yours to share with the people on the booking; do not forward other people's private correspondence.
- Forwarded emails are parsed automatically, including by Anthropic's Claude. Extraction can be wrong. Check dates, times, references and amounts against the original confirmation; the original, not the app, is your proof of booking.
- Trips are shared. When you leave a trip or delete your account, the trip stays with its other members; items and ledger entries you created remain, attributed to a placeholder in your name's place.
4. Money
- Strayfolk records costs, splits, payments and settlements that you and your tripmates enter. It does not hold, send, receive or collect money, and it is not a regulated payment or e-money service.
- Balances and settle-up suggestions are calculations from what the group has entered. They are not a demand for payment, not legal advice, and not a guarantee that anyone will pay you.
- Exchange rates are taken from a public reference source on the day a cost is entered and locked to that entry. They are indicative and may differ from the rate your bank or card applied.
- Disputes about who owes what are between the members of the trip.
5. Pro, trials and trip passes
- Pro is an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) and a trip pass is a one-off purchase for a single trip. Current prices and what each includes are on the pricing page; the price shown at checkout is the one that applies.
- On iOS and Android, purchases are made through Apple's App Store or Google Play under their terms, and refunds are handled by them. On the web, purchases are made through Stripe.
- The first Pro subscription on an account starts with a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription begins and you are charged. Cancel at any time; Pro continues to the end of the paid period and does not renew.
- Tripmates never need to pay. Free features, including seeing balances and settling up, stay free.
- We may change prices for future periods with at least 30 days' notice in the app or by email.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use Strayfolk to break the law, to harass or defraud anyone, to send spam to a forwarding address, to probe or overload the service, to scrape it, or to build a competing product from its data. We may suspend or close accounts that do.
7. Third-party data
Weather and snow forecasts (Open-Meteo), maps (OpenStreetMap contributors via OpenFreeMap), places and routes (Geoapify), flight status (AeroDataBox), exchange rates (Frankfurter), photos (Wikimedia, Pexels, Unsplash) and suggestions come from third parties and can be late, incomplete or wrong. Check conditions, timings and directions with an authoritative source before relying on them — particularly in the mountains.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Strayfolk available and to give notice of planned maintenance, but it is provided "as is" and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change or remove features. If we withdraw a paid feature you rely on, you can cancel and we will refund the unused part of a yearly subscription bought on the web; store purchases are refunded under the store's policy.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we are not liable for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, for losses caused by third-party data being wrong, for missed flights, bookings or connections, or for disputes between tripmates. If you are a consumer, nothing here affects your statutory rights. Our total liability to you in any twelve months is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or £50 if you paid nothing.
10. Ending the agreement
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, with notice where reasonable. Sections 3, 4, 9 and 11 survive.
11. General
- These terms are governed by the law of [England and Wales — to be confirmed], and its courts have jurisdiction, without affecting a consumer's right to bring a claim where they live.
- If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it.
- We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use after that date is acceptance.
