How can we help?

Email hello@strayfolk.app and a person will reply. Include the trip name and, for import problems, the subject line of the email you forwarded.

Forwarding a booking

Every account has a private forwarding address, and every trip has one of its own. They look like this:

plans+abcd…xyz@strayfolk.app — files onto whichever of your trips matches the dates
plans+abcd…xyz-k4m2p9@strayfolk.app — files straight onto one trip

  1. In the app, open You → Email forwarding for your personal address, or the trip's Settings for its address, and copy it.
  2. Forward the booking confirmation from your email app to that address. Attached PDFs are read too.
  3. Within a minute or two the booking appears on the timeline as one or more items — a return flight becomes two legs, a package becomes its parts — with dates in the right timezone, the confirmation reference and the cost.
  4. Check the split. New items default to an equal split across the group; change it on the item if someone is paying differently.

Tips

  • Forward the original confirmation rather than a reminder or a marketing email; the original has the details.
  • Sharing from your phone works the same way: share the email, a link or some text to Strayfolk and it goes down the same path.
  • If you think someone else has your address, rotate it in Settings. The old address stops working immediately.
  • Messages over 25 MB are bounced. Trim the attachments and try again.

When an import fails

Every forwarded email is listed on the trip's Import tab with a status. If we could not read a booking, the status says so and the reason is shown. The usual causes:

  • Over your monthly limit. The free tier includes 5 imports a month; the email is kept and imports once you have Pro or a trip pass, or when the month rolls over.
  • No booking found. The email had no dates or references we recognised. Add the item by hand — it takes a minute — and forward the original confirmation next time.
  • No matching trip. The dates did not overlap any of your trips. Use the trip-specific address, or create the trip first.
  • Bounced. The address was mistyped or has been rotated. Copy it again from the app.

Still stuck? Email us the subject line and roughly when you sent it, and we will look at what happened.

Money and settling up

Strayfolk records money; it does not move it. Each item's cost is split across the people sharing it, payments credit whoever paid, and the balance page shows who owes whom. Settle up suggests the fewest transfers to clear everything. Pay each other however you normally do, then the person who is owed confirms the settlement in the app.

  • Costs in another currency are converted to the trip's base currency at the rate on the day they were entered, and that rate is locked so balances do not drift.
  • Tripmates who have not signed up yet can be added as guests so their share is counted; they claim their row when they join.
  • Nothing in the ledger is ever edited in place. Correcting a mistake writes a reversal, so the history stays honest.

Billing

  • Subscribed on iOS or Android? Manage, cancel or request a refund through the App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google handle those payments, not us.
  • Subscribed on the web? Use the billing link in Settings to update your card, cancel or download invoices. For refunds, email us.
  • Pro not showing on another device? Sign in with the same account and pull to refresh. Web and mobile purchases both apply to your whole account.
  • Full plan details are on the pricing page.

Your account and data

  • Sign in is by magic link, Sign in with Apple or Google. There is no password to forget.
  • Export a trip as a calendar, spreadsheet or PDF (Pro) — arriving in the app shortly; until then email us and we will send it.
  • Leave a trip from the members list. If you are the only organiser, hand the role to someone first.
  • Delete your account by emailing hello@strayfolk.app from your sign-in address (in-app deletion is coming). Your account, forwarding address, devices and personal data are removed; trips you shared stay with the other members with your name replaced. See the privacy notice for what is kept and for how long.
